Who is responsible for your information
Dr Lori Leyden is responsible for the information collected here. She decides what it is used for and she is who to contact about it.
Intellectual Perspective Press builds and runs the tool on her behalf, and handles your information only on her instructions.
In this policy, "we" means Dr Lori Leyden and Intellectual Perspective Press.

What we collect
The reflection is for adults aged 18 and over.
When you use the reflection:
- What you write in the four boxes.
- The reading produced for you in response.
- A random identifier stored in your browser, so that if you come back we can show you your earlier readings. It is not linked to your name.
- A scrambled version of your IP address, made with a secret key. It is stored with the record of each step you take on the site, described below. We use it to filter out our own testing and obvious bot traffic.
- A record of the steps you take on the site, such as opening the page, starting and finishing a reflection, and clicking through to the book. It is not linked to your name.
- The result of an automatic check of what you wrote for signs that you may need extra support, such as mentions of alcohol or other substances, or language suggesting risk. It is stored with your reading so that the reading can include a supportive note where needed.
- A count of how often the supportive screen is shown, by date only, with nothing that identifies you.
If you choose to have your reading emailed to you, we also collect:
- Your first name, if you give one, and your email address.
- Which consent boxes you ticked, the exact words you were agreeing to, and the date and time.
If you use the feedback or request form, we collect your name, your email address and your message.
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.
A note on what you write
You choose what goes in those four boxes. People sometimes write about their health, their families, their finances or other private matters, because that is often what the pressure is actually about.
Two things follow from that. Please write only what you are comfortable having stored. And please do not include information that identifies other people, such as names of colleagues, clients or family members. If you do, we may remove it.
Your answers are saved as soon as your reading is generated, after you have ticked the box confirming this, so that we can show it to you and so you can return to it. They are not connected to your name or email unless you choose to give them. If you give your email address, your readings are linked to it, so we can show you your earlier readings. Your readings can be seen by Dr Leyden and by Intellectual Perspective Press through a passcode-protected dashboard, and by anyone you share a reading's private link with.
What we do it for, and on what basis
We use your writing for one purpose: to produce your reading and show it to you.
We use the record of steps on the site only to see how the tool is used and to fix problems.
If you ask us to email it, we use your name and address to send it, and we keep a record of your consent so we can show it was given.
If you also ticked the optional box, Dr Lori Leyden may write to you from time to time about this work. That box is separate, it is never ticked for you, and leaving it blank makes no difference to receiving your own reading.
Our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to the request form above, and we will delete your information.
Who else handles it
To make the tool work, your information passes through these companies. Each of them acts only on instructions.

Anthropic processes your writing in the United States under standard contractual clauses. Your writing is not used to train their models.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep readings for as long as the tool is running, so you can come back to yours.
If you ask us to delete your information, we will do it and confirm when it is done.
If the tool is ever retired, everything is deleted within 90 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of everything we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it.
- Stop using it.
To access, correct or delete your data, send us a request here. We will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

This reflection is educational. It is not a medical diagnosis and it is not a substitute for therapy, medical care or professional support. We are not providing treatment.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top.
